The Call of Duty money glitch is giving DMZ players more money than they should

It would be an understatement to say that Call of Duty’s DMZ mode’s economy is

It would be an understatement to say that Call of Duty’s DMZ mode’s economy is funny. For $40, you get a roll of tape? Ten dollars for a picture of a dog? $100 for hand cream that soothes? (Sephora, keep an eye out). A recently discovered glitch, on the other hand, gives players a lot of money if they can figure out how to exploit it.

DMZ resembles a “choose your own adventure” mode in certain ways. There are quests and contracts, but other than that, you are free to roam the large open-world map, stay alive, and do whatever you want as long as you do it within the time limit. Get in, grab some stuff, get out. You may purchase better equipment or leave the area to get an XP increase equivalent to a proportion of the money you have on you when you locate various objects with various values to sell for cash.

No more bullets? Time to steal and sell to make more money. No more weapons? Same process. Weapon XP is also very easy to get in DMZ, so the more you can do to get XP (like looting or exfiltrating with cash), the more you can upgrade your weapons. This latest money glitch, on the other hand, makes it unnecessary to scavenge for resources because a few minutes of fiddling with the HUD can give you more money than a whole session of looting. Here’s an example of how it works:

Everyone says that the money glitch is still working, but I couldn’t do it myself. Players can do it by throwing money on the ground near a modified weapon dropped by a dead AI. With a medium or large backpack on, stand in a way that the HUD shows you’re picking up the cash, but keep your crosshairs on the weapon that’s been changed. As a couple of YouTube videos have shown, putting that weapon in your backpack will give you enough cash to either check out with a lot of XP if you survive or buy all the toys at a Buy Station to become brutally unstoppable.

There has also been a report of a glitch where the player leaves money in a “Dead Drop” trash can, but this one has either been fixed or is not as easy to do.

Many people don’t like that other players can cheat the system to get ahead in DMZ, where planning and decisions often mean the difference between life and death. This is especially true when cheating lets you get better gear to stop other players from escaping. Others have pointed out that using money glitch in a way that breaks the game’s rules could lead to a ban, so do so at your own risk.

Still, the money glitch is bringing up other problems in DMZ, especially with how hard AI is right now (which is even worse if you play by yourself). When a mode can be so harsh and there’s no way to get your items back if you crash, it’s easy to see why breaking the rules to make the mode a little easier to handle can be tempting.

It’s important to remember that DMZ is still in beta, but money glitch and exploits that let players get far ahead with little effort, along with very harsh AI, could be enough to make players leave the mode and go back to Warzone 2.0 or Modern Warfare II’s multiplayer.
